چکیده
LTHOUGH RED CELL DAMAGE and lysis during in vitro and in vivo exposure to high oxygen tensions have been well documented,13 the mechanisms responsible for these effects have not been completely elucidated. Previous studies in this laboratory showed that peroxidation of erythrocyte lipid could occur in vivo during exposure to oxygen under high pressure (OHP) and was directly or indirectly involved with red cell damage and hemolysis in animals and humans under these conditions.4’5 Changes in erythrocyte autohemolysis and glycolytic intermediates were subsequently noted in several humans exposed to oxygen under high pressure (OHP ) . The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of controlled in vivo OHP exposure on phosphorylated glycolytic intermediates of mouse erythrocytes.

The use of oxygen under high pressure (OHP) for medical and surgical purposes (1-6) has stimulated renewed interest in, and provided a unique opportunity for study of, the biochemical and functional changes that occur during exposure of animals or humans to high oxygen environments. The possibility occurred to us that a hyperoxic environment might enhance oxidation of compounds in excess of tha...
متن کاملEffect of Gallic Acid on Reactivation of Acetylcholinesterase and Butyrylcholinesterase Inhibited by Diazinon in Vitro and in Vivo
Background and purpose: Diazinon is an organophosphate insecticide that binds to the acetylcholinesterase enzyme after metabolization causing its inactivation. Galic acid is a polyphenolic compound with nucleophilic properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of gallic acid on reactivation of acetylcholine and butyrylcholinesterase inhibited by diazinon in mice and human se...
متن کاملEffects of preconditioning with intermittent normobaric hyperoxia on TNFR1 and TNFR2 expression in the rat brain
Introduction: Recent studies have shown that intermittent normobaric hyperoxia (HO) protects the rat brain from ischemia reperfusion injury. However, the exact mechanism of this kind of protection in vivo is not known. In this study, the effect of HO on expression of TNFR1 and TNFR2 in a stroke model was investigated. Methods: In this experimental study, rats were divided into 4 groups: no...

atmospheric pressures has been recognized for several years.13 This phenomenon has recently assumed greater practical importance with the use of 100 per cent oxygen at reduced atmospheric pressure in space capsules4 and at increased pressures in hyperbaric chambers for medical and surgical purposes.5’6 Studies in this laboratory have shown that rodents exposed to oxygen under high pressure ( OH...
